A Wish
Oh, how I wish (Though I really shouldn't wish, because look where wishing has gotten me) I wish you were mine I wish I was yours I wish you would ask me to Homecoming I wish you would dance with me And tell me I look pretty I wish I could look at you Without blushing with regret I wish I could talk to you Without feeling shy and strange I wish you were mine Because you just looked so wonderful In your heather-grey t-shirt It just isn't fair And your green but kinda blue eyes Were looking right at me It just wasn't fair. I just wanted to hold you and tell you I wanted to tell you everything But it wasn't right I wasn't right (Though I'm never quite right around you) I think you like me too You're either too shy Or you've long since though this through Both make my stomach sink But I think the latter is much worse No The former (How could I decide?) I wonder If you even like me at all I wonder if you know How special you are I wonder if you know That a girl is writing for you Sweet nothings and wishes And blushes on paper I wonder if I could stop these damn wishes Get over you And get on with my life I wonder I wish
