Our war was so full Of everything That none of us ever lost We both won, always You taught me how to love And showed me what being loved feels like You helped me build the me I am now Brick by brick, Your hand in mine And we made the walls of my heart together So I would never get hurt Not by you, not by anybody You made sure that In case you ever leave I will be able to guard myself And thanks to you, I do now This is how I realized That even if I lost lots of sleep at night And cried myself a river I would never take that back Because it made me - me, And I won a year and a half to learn How to love myself From someone who loved me.
