Blue Flowers

Today a man donning black Came to speak to me. With the wind to his back, He let rain his misery. I tried to comfort, say all's alright, Wipe the tears from his eyes, But move not could I Except towards the light Revealing empty promises Came not empty handed he, He'd brought my favorite flowers. Bearing a bundle of blue roses, He'd of filled this heart with glee If not for the call of darker powers On my soul as the rest decomposes. Though so sad he seemed, He left the roses on my bed Never to return again-- Not even when he dreamed. Funny, the roses are just like me; As one, we wither and waste away And fade from loved ones' memories. My friend's blue hue has turned to gray And mine as well through centuries. Today a cloud donning black Came, ignorant of me. With the wind to his back, He let rain his apathy. I begged for him to go away To leave us be another day. But indifferent he let loose a shower That washed away my favorite flowers.
