I sit here so quietly, Wishing for silence If only they'd leave me alone... Instead a swarm Is beginning to form As I wait for them to disappear... Closer they creep, And closer again My calm facade begins to break... I will them back, They do not listen My screams have been internal... Again they advance, Once more I shudder Why aren't they going away? Something is wrong, Terribly wrong The groups should be gone by now... Yet still they sit, Chattering away The meaningless noises reach my ears... I am a plague, I am a disease Should not they be avoiding me? My breathing shortens, I start to panic They are planning something, I know it... I tense automatically, Preparing myself As soon as they hush, I am gone... I hear their laughter, So loud and obnoxious Following me as I leave... Looking back, I scoff at them No more do I shake in fear... Now I am free, Floating endlessly And that is how I shall stay.
