Look upon
these hips fit
for a board
and eat.
Unwilling flesh,
breast of necessity—
being ill for
want of it
I fear a clear life,
pray it may
not tempt me
to eat not.
old gray body
bound for no grave
for no grave
has issued us visas
and i am a law-
abiding citizen
which is to say i suppose
the law is my abode
so this carcass of mine
has standing
and grows more
and more abstract
taxed and insured
vaccinated and boosted
password-protected
two-factor authenticated
fire fire
burn my brick
live like some cut
in the body
a good drinker-up
of every love
the urge to go on a voyage
body moving with purpose
the devil is in on it
the best way to keep me from myself
whatever comes of history
we could wake without hurting it
hunt for a nipple
in the clear rain
how infinite is the body
as a field for visions
they are fleet
they are not to be kept
not to command
at night if I go mad
call me up a bear
They have never stopped watching me
or reminding me of my own,
inferior pair that cannot shoot
sweetness at the world’s
avid mouths. They lurk
in mirrors and behind drapes,
disguise themselves as crockery,
solar flares, or bells that ring
backwards: wholly holy.
If they were ever to blink,
we would all disappear—
let’s keep them under wraps
and over underwires where
they’ll be safe. Only then can men
preserve our immense dignity
and not tremble like virgins
I see nothing on my own
no plain meaning
think of the power
of the microscope
to find a thing not as I expect
but dangerous as a body
Mouthpiece
for the body’s instrument.
Its silence is another language.
Mountain peak.
It makes its own
wet weather.
Mouse-pink
& sensitive as a newborn
through old age.
Missed bit
of a continent submerged
in the unconscious.
Mouthpiece.
The scuba diver
can’t speak.
all the anatomy of the body out of sight
to the kiss the press the every
desire singing
but like people knowing the true God
we imagine a whole world absurdly set down
in our room
Everyday you'd tell me I'm beautiful,
You'd tell me my eyes are beautiful
Like no one else's, but they're just brown I'd reply.
Your face is pure and bright you'd say,
But my face wasn't beautiful it was dull.
Your smile lights up my day
What a cheesy thing to say but your words meant felt like a sugary topping to my day,
Your body is beautiful to me,
I don't like my body but you made me feel like a goddess.
You made me confident in myself until you crushed me down.
It's terrifying.
It's like the world is collapsing on your lungs,
But you're still taking in air.
Yet at the same time, you're getting in enough air,
And it's getting rid of it that's the problem.
Hell.
That's panic attacks in one word.
And even though I've only ever had two,
I know that no one wants them.
I've never been more scared of my body
Than I was in those moments.
The worst part about the second one?
My mind wasn't panicked.
I was okay mentally,
But couldn't stop my body.
I had to put on a hoodie,
If I awoke inside your body,
I'd treat it with such care.
I'd be so gentle with it,
You'd never know I had been there.
This is not a message for just one person,
But a call to those in need.
If you ever think that you are not pretty
Just know you're the prettiest to me.
I'd take a liking to your body-
Surely it's better than mine.
But please, oh please remember
To love yourself all the time.
Yes, my hair's a little too messy
And my eyes a bit askew.
If I awoke as you and we looked the same
I'd still love your body for and with you.
