going about business
every day in the week
I see them slide
what jig requires us
to run the world?
what contented life irks?
I sit looking over
the book of dances
serving time
We dance
on one leg
and dine together on a tongue.
Who is going to lay up
a box of rich things?
Who is enlarging his horse?
We walk
on glass stairs
to sudden fortune or to love
and make the best stories,
the most pleasant stories—
how on such
a night as this
she and I found some trivial business
and took occasion
to go to bed.
A black hat
and some shoes
could not get up
a ladder, and fell
to dancing—
the first dance,
the first great kill.
After talking about going to sea,
after drinking with a butcher and a violin,
after bacon, capons and fritters,
after singing and drinking,
after a dance or two with my lord,
soberly and without fear
I lay awake.
this cruel discontent
we take to be a good servant
forced for the sake of wardrobe and fashion
to put on other things
getting my war paint
and the arch book of dances
the play of bans like news
made up well
how little a gun
to have come for music and dancing
so pettish a servant
to answer to
in many hands
I perceive a dance
of great use
and small trouble
dark and light
ice
wine
dancing out of fear
is a great disorder
water going out with the tide
green and cold as old meat
we danced and broke
to be less like God
The wind taking control,
Making me sway and bend,
To its silent command.
The music filling my mind,
With beautiful harmony,
And harsh demands.
Lavender and rosemary,
Put on a display,
Intoxicating our senses.
Around me,
Others pay no attention,
Caught in their own dances.
Images and flashbacks,
Broken ties,
Are long gone tonight.
In the air and everywhere,
The two are within a block of each other
near the northern edge of downtown.
Whether in cahoots or competition,
both stake a claim on their respective stages.
One, a conductor at her podium
who stands mid-intersection
directing nonexistent traffic.
What plays in her head is anyone’s guess.
The other, a fly fisherman
whipping shadow-cast figure eights
over the empty street; determined to find meaning
when there is always a catch before his release.
As cars arrive to nudge both experimental theaters,
a dance ensues to the tune of one long echoing symphonic honk.
Twirling, arms waving, she casts a spell
over her orchestra pit to silence the critics.
Here i am having fun all alone
With my best friends
Yes , My music and phone
Dancing on own
hitting the damn floor
You heard someone knocking the window
Maybe i need their company
Welcome sunshine
Let's play some shadow games
Oh my stomach hurts
I get it , let's have some food
I hear Angels singing
Fell on the heaven
With my little teddy on side
Slept a happy grown girl
Put your feet on the floor
do not consider them
consider your knees, bend them
lift one foot off the floor place it somewhere
consider touching toes, touch them any old way
Sigh, bunches of sighs
consider your complete self in a long mirror
consider your left eye carefully
keep your eye on your left eye and slide
it all the way down the mirror.
