I bring things to hunt,
meet others
in books
and tend a mind
printed in ink
to save money.
Of all the things our ink
signed away,
the peak comes
back in the evening
to rest.
Think: let blood
go to ink, ivy in
the evening sing
our house to bed.
At the office
in the afternoon
letters change to ash,
a black road
printed round the mind.
But no one
but the ink hunts
for a way home.
Home all day
with my pent-up talk,
this ear like a state
and if I have ink
I reckon myself a world.
I am a society
of worn instruments,
a should-have-been,
a rogue fleet gone
into ink.
