Snow plow

Our neighbor plows down-hollow and back, his wife riding shotgun. The old plow truck hasn’t left the mountain in years, bound to its one road. In each yard, it raises white ramparts from the fallen enemy.

i wish i could hate you because hatred moves mountains and ends lives in a frantic, desperate blaze no one can stop but fear shackles me to the ground begging for the end and all i have is a spark of what could've been

The boy learnt to run without stopping. Spreading his arms and aiming for the mountains. Even the wind bowed at his strength. As he embraced the world with a grin. But then, his arms are shaking. And for a while, He is lost in a mysterious fountain. His breath lost to the sea and his voice faint. He gazed at the image before him. What a wonderful creature! He moved closer to behold the image And then he is trapped in the beast's nest He saw more than his weary eyes could eat He painted so quickly a perfect future. Slowly he grow impatient and there came rage. He thought he had found love clothed in a dress But Love had scars, dressed perfectly with the help of a makeup kit.

Tierra del Fuego

Tierra del Fuego, Land of Fire! How further long How many days and nights – or would it be months and years Or – would it be never, I shudder to think. How further long would you come to me in my sleep In my waking hours, in my walks in the mountains How further long would it be when I touch you finally? Tierra del Fuego, you have remained a dream Decades old, when unable to resist you, I tore off a picture And kept you in my treasure chest, locked in the depths of my heart! I yearned for you so much, Tierra del Fuego! You were a kindred soul in my tempestuous youth. Your trees twisted in the storm Storms, passionate and intense, Raging waves lashing against the cliffs

Himalaya by Proxy

In the air-conditioned chill of the office In the desktop picture of Mount Everest In passwords like Ganga, Yamuna Badri, Kailas or Manasarovar - Leafing, surreptitiously, through the books on treks To Himalayas and wilderness Dreaming meandering through Rhododendrons and snow bound paths- I imagine the sips of water from my bottle To be that of the streams in the mountains. It is really so easy; all I have to do Is to get up from my seat Leave the complaining customer Walk over to the window at the rear of the office And look up at the skies…

Death of a Banker, foretold

Drowning, choking, slowly killing Myself In the swirling waters of currency notes Beneath the debris of credits and debits Settling down Into the mud of greed, of breach of trust, Of bribes and frauds and distrust Sinking Into the quicksand of speculations Hopes of life bursting like bubbles of my breath – I dream - Of snow-capped mountains…

And there will be time it was said to follow the goat-herd into the mountains and dance to the shepherd's music. But the rain was strong insistent and long. Our heads wet we slept together on the hay with only a song for passion.

Stirring up dirt I throw my leg Over the motorcycle And hang on Down grizzly peak we hit air pockets of plum blossom and pine Henry turns back and shouts to me I shout yes I shout yes 'cause I didn't hear him My leg stinging with wind Where I burned it on tailpipe.

A mountain outside a room inside a skull above Snow on the mountain flowers in the room thoughts in the skull.
