I Can't Forget

I can't forget the day I left Her standing in the rain With no one to take her home. Her repeatedly calling my name Is a sound I can still hear. Her dripping hair is still a sight I see. I can't forget the way I stared Like a passerby, Deciding whether or not to help Until it was too late And I was pulled away By the cold, numb fingers Of merciless destiny. I imagine she can't forget The day I left her standing in the rain Without someone to take her home And nurse her wounded pride. She probably still lives there In that house full of tears, Memories, and past troubles, Trying to forget the day I left her Standing in the rain as people stared, Some being passersby, Others wishing they were such. For these long years, she's watched things change, Probably wishing I was there. Though I've tried hard in the past, I have learned to accept the fact That I can't forget the day I left her standing in the rain With no one to take her home.
