Three Words

I said three words To a lost friend that day, And when it was over And we parted, No more words came To either of us. I said three words In my grief that day, For she was long gone Before she left me. I knew our friendship Would be no more, For we were destined To go our seperate ways Before it even began. Neither of us Could delay it anymore. I say three words On the road tonight As I travel on a path To a new situation Of which I know little. No more words come to me As I walk on, Remembering the things That I left behind When I started to follow This path of life Which I know Was laid out before By someone or something That knew what really Was best for me.
