The speaker is ending a relationship, or what's left of one, by listing everything that has stopped. The poem is built on a repeating pattern: something the other person used to do, followed by a blunt "No longer." The first three pairs describe what the other person has lost: writing, smiling, caring. Then the pattern turns inward, and the speaker admits that their own love and their own concern have gone too. The line "I used to give a shit" is the harshest, and it sounds like someone trying hard to seem unbothered.
The second half moves from feelings to actions. Changing an Instagram, swapping a phone number and deleting a kik account are modern ways of vanishing from someone's life. Then comes "And dropped my heart," the one moment that sounds vulnerable. The cool tone slips a little, and it hints that the hurt is still there. The final lines, "Let's just never talk. / Its better that way," sound like the speaker is persuading themselves as much as the other person. The mood is cold, tired and defensive, with pain sitting just under the surface.
