Poem Five: Him

There he sits minding his own business. Girl they call him. Sister them call him. Ma'am they call him so he stands. Sit they tell him. No they tell him. Don't they tell him. Won't they tell him. Danger they tell him. Quiet they tell him so he leaves. Safe they call him. Boy they call him. Dad they call him. Love they call him. Valid they call him so he stays.

This poem is about my lived experience with genderand was written for a poetry class.
