I'm waiting for you
To the person that will one day love me... I wait for you tentatively Unsure as to if you’ll really come And like everyone I have expectations of you But unlike anyone mine are more accurately requests: I expect you to be patience It takes me longer to process things but I’ll get there if you give me time I expect you to understand when no one else does Know me for who I am in all my versatility I expect you to hold me with warmth and sincerity May the space of you outstretched arms become my safe haven I expect you to let me rest with your arm around me Let me hear the heart that beats for the both of us as what’s left of mine I would have already surrendered to you Treat it with more care than those before you I expect you to see the beauty in me always even when I flake out in the corner of the sofa unbrushed hair, red eyes and tear stained cheeks still crying I expect you to wipe away my tears gently Hold my face in your hands, look into my eyes and tell me I will be ok I expect you to make me believe all the things I previously haven’t Be the one to silence the voice of doubt in my head and heart The doubt that you won't come, That you don't exist, That I can’t be loved That I'm meant to be alone... In this world that I don't seem to fit in to I expect you to keep me company Can you stop me feeling so alone And show me the positives when all I see Are the negatives in me Above all else I expect you to love me with every fiber of your being As I will you I am sure And find me soo…. Before I lose hope
