Night thoughts

Why do these thoughts keep me awake? A never ending tumble of sounds, A long forgotten memory. A conversation still to be had, And all the ways it could go Smashing the inside of my skull repeatedly

Only at night do these thoughts haunt me, Even showing me painful scenes of what ifs, Of the worst case scenarios...

If only I could tune them out, Force my mind to go blank, At least until I fall asleep. But no, they haunt me still.

If only I could put voice to those thoughts, Then perhaps they would leave me be. But the waiting only leads to wondering. And wondering causes the constant buzz.

Is she having these same thoughts? Or has she finally been able to keep them at bay, Finally able to get that sleep she deserves?

I do not know, and that gives more thoughts, More wondering. Please someone take these thoughts from me, Or at least quiet them for a few moments.
