Song of the Modern Insomniac [Dialogue]
The sea of night, a gentle grey To smooth the warmth of day away Yet charcoal silhouettes are seen Unveiled by the computer screen A tender touch to sleep's soft chest Can loose humanities repressed And then I must return again To sate a self-destructive end It wracks my tired appetite It drags me into its sick light I raise the plastic lid and think Adopt the pixel's pen and ink I know, in time, the sun will rise Reveal me, bleeding at the eyes I know, but I'm not disinclined; I type these words to lose my mind
