how do you miss the warmth

of an embrace which never belonged, of kisses left suspended in air, untouched, the ghost of your fingertips seemingly brushing against my cheek, only to realise that all that was left were my tears and i? how do you miss the warmth, of friends who never stayed, drifting away and vanishing just as mist, figures barely holding its form before falling apart and breaking down, and when the sun shines once more all you find is the traces of a love no longer there, vaporised, lost?

of the sun

it is 6.30pm, the edge of the sun glimmers beyond the boundary, taking its last breath before it is returned to its rightful lover. and the bystander waits, listens to the cry of the sunbirds, knowing yet their time has been lost, past, it is time to forget. they remember naught, the outline of your skin, the glistening voice, an airy shadow left in the wake of mere fate's hands nestled upon circumstance; a certain glory to the act of erasing resides in the dying glow of the auburn sky. and it is a new dawn, they say, rid of all sentimentality. the air quivers.

percussive function

love lies in those beheld, and with it, you also find love. it exists in the insignificant; in the gentle grinding of the mallet on metal keys, in the incessant rumbling of wood on the carpet, in the glistening sweat beaded on drumsticks and the bleary-eyed stares at those scores with just-too-many-notes-and-rests to count. it lies hidden in the musty scent of the paths walked by generations, the residue warmth and comfort remains dormant in its essence - in the conjoining of scrapes and blisters, in the aching wrists and forearms,

pathfinder

on the autumn riddled wound path to my home, the reddened leaves crack and falter under my footsteps, fragile facade of beauty trembling under my crushing abyss, sinking, fall's composed magic crumbles under my solemn weight. ghosts of smells i once loved fill the air. letting the ashy air grasp my empty hands, i feel a sincere warmth from within, radiating, sinking in and becoming one, unfaltering unlike the ground beneath me, steady, fortified, safe; an unshakable foundation. the world is still painted in the same monochrome as it always has been; the four seasons change just as how my feelings falter as they pass by. but all i can have now is the homely scent

365 days to love, and i shall give you all of my days

i only have 365 days left to love, the doctor wailed; a year to give away the battered expanse of a soul who knows the end of their span, the grim reaper looms, there is no time to loan another's heart for a half hearted sense of fulfilment in search of life's meaning. i am about to die, and yet the only person id ever want to hold my still body is you, who has weathered my storms and watered my gardens, i was the hearth and you were the blazing fire, i was the moon and the stars and you were a brilliant night sky, endlessly timeless and eternal, your love was, and therefore i shall love you

orbit

the stars rotate around my axis, twinkling little giants trembling in the wake of my immense gravity, my selfish hands pull and reach for these orbs of light, wanting them all just for myself, core of cold ice engulfing and destroying and reducing love and life to empty nothingness as i consume and consume and consume but the sun still exclaims their radiant glory, the galaxies still quiver in their tremendous vitality of stardust and beauty and their confidence, the universe still spins and grows and breeds all these fragments of infinite infinity - remind me of my colossal insignificance oh dark star, for with the billions of star-showers

numb cravings

warm shivering body in search of a light, for the quiver of your lips on mine, the ghost of an illusion delicately delivered in the eyes of a child, forlorn dreams slowly fragmenting at the crushing reality of the charming prince never to be seen. i crave for the gentle touch of your heart to mine, for i want love as how i love it, as selfish as it seems; the roses pretend to choke as i speak, this pale faced beauty, mouth shut, numb figure dancing alone in the silhouette of the thumping adrenaline-filled valve once known, once felt, never kept, forever holding

alpha ∞ omega

alpha & omega beginnings without an end meeting you was a blur of colour for i was young then but it will always come to an end my heart will sew itself up and beat, once more as the saying goes, "first loves never last" for what matters are the loves you treasure after you will never read this but if you ever do,

live to give

i give and i give and i give and i give, giving is my name, parts and pieces of my youth and yonder, i give as a gift to you. i have 2555 days of my youth to spare, but i only itch and itch and itch to inch away at myself for you, for you, only for you, not noticing the cracks and cuts and cracks and cuts in my carved out flesh; no one notices the worn torn gone-case burn out hell of a weary heart i drag around in fiery chains, searing in my soul, an iron furnace of self-giving and selfish taking. i cry and i weep and i pray and i worship, i care and i think and i anger and i worry, i love and i love and i love and i love and till this day i never learnt how to love without losing

summer rain

the gentle warmth of the rising sun fills my tired, cold heart with radiant joy, the morning dew glistens with the colours of the rainbow, carefully twinkling under the golden hues, dotting freshly matured leaves as diamonds on this ring over my left hand, a promise which rings eternal, just as your reign over this body of mine. the birds cry their morning plea; melodious etudes of the new dawn ring like wedding bells, the soft echos of their love song rejuvenate my shell of exhaustion as the air brims with joyful exhilaration, sizzling with the energy of a thousand suns. yet, it retains the lightness of a million feathers, grazing my flushed cheeks as i lean into your being.
