heart

i hold your heart in the palm of my hand; i admire the pulsing crimson life-force flowing through the network of veins, tinted, just as stained glass when the light hits it at the right spot. luminescent skin reveals deep, blue-black flesh throbbing with hidden whispers and secrets unknown to any man, ivory white tendons, worn and torn, just as the foundations of a fortress holding up the bruised chambers of the castle of your heart. feeling the fullness of your flesh in the warm embrace of my digits, a shadow flickers, and i wrench my palm closed,

how do you miss the warmth

of an embrace which never belonged, of kisses left suspended in air, untouched, the ghost of your fingertips seemingly brushing against my cheek, only to realise that all that was left were my tears and i? how do you miss the warmth, of friends who never stayed, drifting away and vanishing just as mist, figures barely holding its form before falling apart and breaking down, and when the sun shines once more all you find is the traces of a love no longer there, vaporised, lost?

of the sun

it is 6.30pm, the edge of the sun glimmers beyond the boundary, taking its last breath before it is returned to its rightful lover. and the bystander waits, listens to the cry of the sunbirds, knowing yet their time has been lost, past, it is time to forget. they remember naught, the outline of your skin, the glistening voice, an airy shadow left in the wake of mere fate's hands nestled upon circumstance; a certain glory to the act of erasing resides in the dying glow of the auburn sky. and it is a new dawn, they say, rid of all sentimentality. the air quivers.

ashes to ashes

i have completely erased your footprints in my room, replacing them with the ash that now circulates in this space i can only call my own. memories, from the ash of one they arise, to the ash of another they fall, the soil is overturned, exposing the fresh life within old earth. your scent seeps into my bloodstream, infusing into sunken- in memories now remembered in sepia. its touch clings to my cold hands, the air-con hums again at 23 degrees, the bed is ever too high, the curtains are drawn once more,

the courage to free

the leaves, tipped in amber, outlined in soft glow, dark veins set deep in luminosity, as if forming a net, capturing the setting sun. a single droplet of water collects. its weight, threatening but merciful, caught between the boundary of freedom and entrapment as it stays suspended in time, never easing, never to leave. if only i had the courage to bring it to my finger and give it sweet, sweet release.

alpha ∞ omega

alpha & omega beginnings without an end meeting you was a blur of colour for i was young then but it will always come to an end my heart will sew itself up and beat, once more as the saying goes, "first loves never last" for what matters are the loves you treasure after you will never read this but if you ever do,

live to give

i give and i give and i give and i give, giving is my name, parts and pieces of my youth and yonder, i give as a gift to you. i have 2555 days of my youth to spare, but i only itch and itch and itch to inch away at myself for you, for you, only for you, not noticing the cracks and cuts and cracks and cuts in my carved out flesh; no one notices the worn torn gone-case burn out hell of a weary heart i drag around in fiery chains, searing in my soul, an iron furnace of self-giving and selfish taking. i cry and i weep and i pray and i worship, i care and i think and i anger and i worry, i love and i love and i love and i love and till this day i never learnt how to love without losing

frost

frost, i breathe in, the freezing air filling my lungs, bleeding into my veins, chilling to the bone, as it spreads throughout me; a network of ice just as a cobweb, and i am the pitiful prey trapped by nature's embrace. teeth chattering, reddened skin pricks at sensitive nerves threatening to fall apart any moment, a frostbitten heart ceases to beat no more. for acceptance is one that cannot be forced, for it is nature's law that love has its destiny, for it is our right to refuse another.
