You were like a star to me.
You have always been for me.
Either if it's day or night
You cared,loved, protected;
Like a brother, friend
More than a friend;
Yeah, best friend.
Everytime when i look at the stars
That reminds me of you
They say dead souls become stars.
Are you a star ?
Do you still check on me?
I missed you when you were gone
I still do.
So, my dear best friend;
You are the brightest star i knew
You tell me nothing's wrong
But I see right through that lie
You say "go away" and "it's private"
hoping I don't know what's going on
But I know,
what it's all about.
You pretend that nothing goes wrong,
trying not to hurt me,
but I know, and it hurts.
It kills me inside,
makes me feel useless to you,
if not a toy.
Yet I pretend that nothing's wrong,
I carry on my normal life.
I say nothing's wrong,
and you can't see through my wall
Dictionaries are books of revelation.
You never knew what words really meant
You took them for granted
You assumed
You had always thought so
You thought that’s what people meant
Until told otherwise by the dictionary.
Shall we look up the word, ‘friend’?
The word, in my hitherto life I have used
So wantonly.
I assumed it meant what I thought I felt
For certain individuals I liked more than others.
Certain individuals who were in my thoughts
More often than not.
Those for whom I felt affection
Those for whom I ached
In the claustrophobic cubicle
(the reason none other dare use it)
That is my exclusive toilet,
At the stroke of midnight
We engage in a silent conversation.
I sit on the seat, hardly a foot away from her.
Twisting myself awkwardly, I strain to focus.
in the dim light, her eyes twinkle
As the light of the headlamp lights her up.
I have known her ( or her ancestors) for long.
Very polite, seemingly embarrassed
Having to witness my nocturnal
Passage of the bowels, she pretends
To be busy with cleaning herself up.
Observing her through the camera
I am reminded of the many lonely nights
My friend! What brought us together?
Was it the love for each other’s presence?
Was it the comfort in each other’s being?
Was it the glow in our eyes and hearts?
Was it the joy, the warmth and mirth
Was it regard, respect, the reason
Or was it because we just felt at ease?
Was it just the way we were?
Weren’t there times when it came to an end,
Weren’t there moments when we flew apart?
Why to each other did we take
Why each did we value, more than others?
What made you my friend, my friend?
What was the chemistry, what was the fusion?
What, pray tell me you see in me
What made you say I am your friend?
Always finds a way to see me,
Flirts time and time again,
She stares deeply into my eyes,
I’m just a friend,
She laughs at all my jokes,
Smiles when I’m near,
Playfully touches me when close,
I’m just a friend,
Never afraid to send compliments my way,
Shows interest in anything I say or do,
Tells her closest friends and family about me,
I’m just a friend,
Charming,
Thoughtful,
Sweet,
Personable,
I stood up
Bold and brave
For myself
Copying others' ways
I followed suit
To fit in more
I just wanted friends
Not a heart sore
I was stood up
On multiple days
Left alone
In this haze
I feel so lonely
Deep inside
Not the surface
Other's wont find
The day I got close enough to see the minute iridescent freckles across your face
was the day that I discovered my new favourite place.
A spot right in front of you,
a world built for two.
But what happens when the world wasn't built for you,
but instead was built for people who, when I think about;
are almost taboo.
it feels wrong to know
that you love another
that you're so immersed in her
just like how i used you to make my emotions smother.
It's sad to know,
that the paint on the walls will dry
faster than the tears your beautiful eyes have made me cry
oh, to feel comfortable in my favourite place again,
to love you without betraying a friend.
Sometimes I think I finally found the one in you.
Sometimes I wonder if you feel it too.
Because when I look at you I don't feel ashamed anymore.
Because when I look at you I see a true friend.
Someone I can trust with heart and soul.
Finally;
Finally my heart feels whole.
You ask me if I am okay when no one else would because no one else notices.
You laugh with me when no one else would because we have jokes in common no one else has.
And I will blush when you look at me.
And I will smile when you look away.
And when you hold me tight,
I can't help but feel like I am on a flight.
The question dances
On my lips
You tell me
I seem to forget
You have changed
Not for the better
We used to be friends
Who did this to you?
Change is melancholy
You lose people
You didn't want to
But it happened
"Let it go," you say
But I can't..
His name was Tim McKay,
And he seldom had anything to say.
But he came to the club regularly
And listened to all our discussions.
He'd nod his head and smile,
And give us a toothy-giggly grin,
And he always seemed to understand.
Tim has gone on now.
And we all miss him down at the club.
We used to sit and talk to Tim for hours.
Would you go out
on a limb for a friend?
Crawl out there among the leaves and branches,
swaying in the breeze
with sunlight dappled leaves
across your physiognomy,
And would you stay there
Long up in the air
As night set in and the stars,
Would you stay there long?
And would you saw the limb
You're sitting on? And fall?
And what would you do
when you got up off the ground?
