Poems Written Out of William Carlos Williams 2

Now sit in the sunken stairwell, rejoining there. There is only the real physical cold for the moment,to gather you there. It is for every time you knew before, that this matters. The plain sun will hold enough of tomorrow. But for you, there is no place to refuge from. Only the moment is cold enough, for the warmth to survive in it. We have lost most of, Yet all is again for that moment of cold.

no shadow is cast then coming in from the sun I find the house dark

I watch for the sun as fully expectant the earth accepts the rain

Pretty Cloud

Head stuck In a pretty rain cloud For too long Raindrops race down my cheeks It's time to leave Finally free, I look around Iced leaves, bursting buds Crystal shards of ice untouched Sun rays hit branches Mind vacant The sun shines on Rays reflecting in the pond Bees bumble by swaying swans Swallows swoop by bursting butterflies Clouds cluster

I went to sleep thinking I would see your beautiful smile that makes my heart go 100 miles the next morning everything was fine I was on time got my things thinking I would see you. A teacher with a glum face "strange day" I say going on my way I take my seat a little up beat when I see a tear or three

of the sun

it is 6.30pm, the edge of the sun glimmers beyond the boundary, taking its last breath before it is returned to its rightful lover. and the bystander waits, listens to the cry of the sunbirds, knowing yet their time has been lost, past, it is time to forget. they remember naught, the outline of your skin, the glistening voice, an airy shadow left in the wake of mere fate's hands nestled upon circumstance; a certain glory to the act of erasing resides in the dying glow of the auburn sky. and it is a new dawn, they say, rid of all sentimentality. the air quivers.

reforge

i gather these fragments lying on my palm, blowing a faint wish into the gaps of the shining glass, shattered but yet not broken; i raise my prayer towards the morning sun and chant a silent oath. and as the boiling furnace melts and burns the hardened shreds into crystal goblets of fortified lava, i tuck it close to my heart, reforging them into something only i can wield, something i will be able to dedicate this treasure to another vessel of my heaven, to another hell i have yet to experience before.

orbit

the stars rotate around my axis, twinkling little giants trembling in the wake of my immense gravity, my selfish hands pull and reach for these orbs of light, wanting them all just for myself, core of cold ice engulfing and destroying and reducing love and life to empty nothingness as i consume and consume and consume but the sun still exclaims their radiant glory, the galaxies still quiver in their tremendous vitality of stardust and beauty and their confidence, the universe still spins and grows and breeds all these fragments of infinite infinity - remind me of my colossal insignificance oh dark star, for with the billions of star-showers

summer rain

the gentle warmth of the rising sun fills my tired, cold heart with radiant joy, the morning dew glistens with the colours of the rainbow, carefully twinkling under the golden hues, dotting freshly matured leaves as diamonds on this ring over my left hand, a promise which rings eternal, just as your reign over this body of mine. the birds cry their morning plea; melodious etudes of the new dawn ring like wedding bells, the soft echos of their love song rejuvenate my shell of exhaustion as the air brims with joyful exhilaration, sizzling with the energy of a thousand suns. yet, it retains the lightness of a million feathers, grazing my flushed cheeks as i lean into your being.

gaze

take these hands and lead me to the windows of your soul. in those autumn depths, let me find myself in these pools of rich amber, glistening with the splendour of a thousand suns, of great mystery and beauty which cannot be gauged by worldly measures alone. let me be the subject of your gaze, sweet and dripping with honey, hexagons moulded into crescent moons grant me the tenderness of a mother to her newborn child; i experience gentle affection, through these all-seeing orbs of yours,

weightless

i bask in the gentle warmth of the morning sun, lying in the embrace of a million roses, steeping myself in the fragrance of an eternity coming into full bloom. the peak of one's life unravels in a magnificent display of vitality and passion, as every fibre of my young soul is elevated to another heaven; heart soaring into the golden glow of the new dawn before weightlessness overcomes me, and i sink back into my gardens.

sol

the radiance of the sun, nestled deep in this hollow cavity of mine; one which yearns to see the glorious rays of a hope left forgotten. a delightful warmth spreads through my fingertips and is bursting at my seams, filling me with such beauty and splendour; one which pours eternal, everlasting admiration for you, you, you, and only you, as i bask in its serendipitous luminosity, before i inevitably melt away just as the wings of icarus,
