Be Alive

Has anyone ever thought What if we were gone? Has anyone ever noticed That what we become Is our only shadow To the future? Feelings are What we become. Memories are What we remember. What we live Is what we create. What we notice Is what we think. Is our mind created Only to make a living?

River Fall

Hammer's falling, Silently. Every metre down, Deeper. You hear the waterfall, Soothing. The wind snoring through the leafage, Crystalling. Water touches stones, Leaves path to unknown... SPLASH! Hammer falls, Nature gets disturbed For a little moment.

The Singer

the singer would never forget her he would never forget how she stood on her tiptoes, wearing sharpie-drawn converse and a hot topic tank. how she seemed so light, yet so heavy with the weight of all of her issues, her diagnoses, her dreams astray. excitedly, she told the singer that she was seventeen. she had hyacinth eyes and cornsilk hair, and she was as thin as the rail his microphone sat on. and although the girl claimed that she had been saved, he could have sworn he saw pale rose slashes beneath her the collection of silicone wristbands adorning, wrapping around, covering her arms. she leaned in, whispered about all of the things that he had, unwillingly and unwittingly, done for her.

Brighter Than Me

colors in art and fantasy bringing joy to the children and their nostalgic elders colors in heart and mind manipulating my inner self colors in the panicked dreams and bad trips spinning around me like a roller coaster ride colors in bright despair, the color of a fresh cut and a candle burned away, the colors never stop for me.

Material Girls

the girl is a doll she's a wannabe model, blond hair, blue eyes that flit to and fro as she walks and she's careful careful to be quiet, fading background her friend is a caricature she's a tall drink of water, kinky hair, cherry-wood eyes that flit to and fro as she walks and she's careful careful to try to merge with the luxurious room the girls are diamonds

Silence

Morning strayed Like an uncertain stranger on the far horizon, Just shy of dawn. To fleeting to alight, This daylight, So quick to change its course. In its wake, darkness, Whose quiet oppression should hush and fall And force a bow of nature, Slowly silencing her quiet call. To regress and draw the light From every seeing eye, For hours, Such seemingly dead, still, silence Induced upon us.

Its Life

Its a roller coaster, Where everyone's throwing up Its a sweet candy, Thats fallen under the couch Its a soft melody, Being played on a banjo Its a friend, That leaves when you fall down Its a chair, With one leg shorter then the others If it was a video game, It would be dark soul Even when its all these things, Its still a roller coaster, Its still a sweet candy, Its still a soft melody,

it won't be the end

i see a delicate untuned ivory piano a few black keys are loose and wobble they sway a bit when you press down all of the scribbles on my book pages in between the lines, around the corners always in pencil, and sometimes in pen and the chicken noodle soup left alone it's still warm, but maybe not enough but somehow still makes me feel better the fair rides that have been shut down but only after they had just been put up were they too much fun or not enough? and i am all of these things, just a bit

Secret

What if I told you a secret? Something small for you to hold. Would you keep it close to your chest, Or let it go to fly off like a bird? Take this piece of me And turn it to nothing at all.

* * *

Snowy hills against soft night In backdrop of fair dying light Stillness conquering bustling life Only does wind's playful fife – Continue onward as moon roams far Waiting return of morning star

You Don’t Have to Answer

What if every drop of rain needs the patch of sidewalk where it lands? Every sky needs cumulous to fill it? I need the umbrella that needs the raindrops to shape the wet arch overhead. We are all here because I put us here. I need here and us and this poem to put things in. What does the poem need? Or do you

may my mind one day

may my mind one day be open to silent dogs who hold the secrets of stillness the trail miles they run are better than talk if I trot behind them I’ll let my words walk and let my words slink away tired and sleepy and sated and pliant and may I lie sunning grassily and love my lapse into hours letters-free and toss aside sentences and syntax so I may find whatever peace I suspect dogs never know a vacancy in their lives dashing through the woods wild as wordless wind

Describe a feeling — we’ll find a poem
