Anger

Red Depressing Runs through my veins Stabs me in the heart Loves none Fears less Get it away, out of my head My mind, is playing tricks... Or is it? Hurt Fueled when they don't give up My music, diminishes, yet amplifies it.

Depression

Life is just a pattern, there is nothing new, nothing special. The same old thing, day after day. Nobody cares, nobody notices, it is good that nobody notices. If they noticed, they would only get hurt. If they tried to love, they would be heartbroken, their heart’s would die. I do not want to hurt them, so it would be safest just to go.

Remembrance

I remember almost every moment, but when I ask you, you just don't answer. I don't know how you cannot remember our first year together. But somehow you do, and that's really confusing. My heart shriveled up and died when I learnt, but it's nothing new to me. It's happened countless times before, what's one more time? I remember the first time we kissed, now I'm wondering if it even matters to you. I remember everything, big or small. But you can't even remember our best Christmas together. You who can usually remember everything,

Heartbreaks

“Behold, Ladies and Gentlemen, the heart!” The venerable doctor professor said, holding up The bleeding heart in his hand, fresh, Of the young man, dead, on the table. “Now, I cut it laterally into two, Observe the atrium, ventricles, aorta etc.” The heart still throbbed, blood dripped, And thought to itself; How little these men know! They see the chambers and think them To be empty. Empty they are now, but he, My dead man would remember The hopes, the dreams, the loves He held in them not so long ago. ‘I am not just a piece of flesh and blood’,

What we do not want

We keep our eyes shut in fear of what we might see of ourselves... we keep our ears closed for fear of what we might hear our heart says... when our hands shiver when our mind hesitates - we know we know what we do not want to know...

An Etymology of Emotions

Jilt, spurn, thwart or ditch A tilt, a twist, a sense of falling overboard A sense of the world turning upside down A sense of hanging on a tree like a bat. Stunned – a sense of impact As if hit full on the face Shattered- and you hear the crashing glass The blast of the blowtorch – devastated. In the lonely evenings all you can do Is to bend down and look bewildered At your world lying in smithereens And listen to the silent screams Of your heart.

Echo

Lying on my left side, body bared Waiting for the cold creamed sensor Feeling my heart beneath the hair and flesh I smelt the perfume of the girl, The warmth, the softness of her arm across my chest And like an excited adolescent thought She had her breast pressed against my back. I giggled inside, fantasizing The girl taking a fancy To my broad, hairy, muscled chest. I smiled at myself, my silliness, my innocence Happy that even the imagination Of the touch of a young body could rouse me. In her soft voice she asked me after my health About my BP, cholesterol, and the pains All the while I was thinking how nice it would be

When I See Your Face…

My eyes light up, A smile is instant, I bounce with excitement, When I see your face, In a crowded room, It’s all that I see, My pulse begins to quicken, When I see your face, Thoughts enter my mind, Romantic images then displayed, In a dream-like trance, When I see your face, Confusion dominates my ponderings, As a confrontation is made, Uncertain of what to feel, When I see your face,

Ignored Is My Love

Opening up to you, Placing my heart in your grasp, Firmly implanted, Confident of your care and love, My feelings bottled up for so long, A weight is finally released, Slowly floating to the clouds, Feeling light again, Happiness comes upon me, Anxious to hear your response, With a bounce in my step, A sparkle in my eyes, Not having felt this way in so long, Being fearful of love, I long for your acceptance, Long for your love,

"The Fall"

Words emanate from my mouth, The origin being my heart, Leaving myself open to pain, As I become vulnerable, My feelings strengthen, Which my words and actions showcase, As I begin to fall, In your direction, For every moment that we share, I fall a bit further, Praying that you catch me, That you accept my love, Gifts I give, Poems I write, Expressing my innermost thoughts and feelings, The ground closing in,

No Pain

A sore throat, A hamstring strain, A broken nose, I feel no pain, An ear infection, An ankle sprain, A jammed finger, I feel no pain, A stiff back, A sunburnt face, A violent cough, I feel no pain, My body aches, Morning, noon and night, A doctor tells me I’m sick, I feel no pain,

Beat

Sheltered from this world, Protected from potential harm, Fearful of being released, Wanting to maintain its innocence, As it begins to mature, Innocence slowly fades, Longing for a sense of freedom, To make its own decisions, Finally out in the world, Released to the masses, Curiosity at its peak, Expanding with every experience, Handed to another, Trusting of their care, Full of life and joy, Fears, worries and doubts spared,
