I Used to Dream

Of a day when There would be peace And harmony Throughout the world. I used to dream That someday There'd be no violence No war No hatred. I used to hope I used to imagine We could put aside our differences Even just for a day I used to wait For that day to come. I used to expect

Hole in Your Heart

How can you live With a hole in your heart Or a chasm in your soul? How can you go on Waking up every morning Looking in the mirror Knowing that the healthy figure You see Is a deception? How can you go To the doctor every year Knowing you've got a problem He can never fix With medications And home remedies? How can that doctor

Three Words

I said three words To a lost friend that day, And when it was over And we parted, No more words came To either of us. I said three words In my grief that day, For she was long gone Before she left me. I knew our friendship Would be no more, For we were destined To go our seperate ways Before it even began. Neither of us

The Last Real Day

The last real day, The last time I was able To be myself. The last day Before the world changed And became dark and cold. Before everyone turned away From everyone else Trying to save themselves From the evil And the destruction. The last real day, The last time I saw the sun, The last real light

Way Down

Way down, Deep in the voids, Deep in the darkness She waits Unseen, Unheard, Unnoticed. Sitting in a room Surrounded by black and white voids Of silence And darkness And loneliness And doubt. Wishing this room Was not a little piece Of blue heaven

I Can't Forget

I can't forget the day I left Her standing in the rain With no one to take her home. Her repeatedly calling my name Is a sound I can still hear. Her dripping hair is still a sight I see. I can't forget the way I stared Like a passerby, Deciding whether or not to help Until it was too late And I was pulled away By the cold, numb fingers Of merciless destiny. I imagine she can't forget The day I left her standing in the rain Without someone to take her home

One

There used to be two, But now there's one. One person Alone In this strange world. One person Who has no one And no place to run to. A person Shivering in the cold In a coat of rags and patches. Rags are what's left Of the old life Because he lost everything In the floods. Patches sewn on

My Distant Other

The linoleum tiles gleam today With somebody's many tears. I know not who is crying, Yet I know it is not me. Rush hour comes and the tears are covered With dirt and other debris By those who neither know nor care Whose tears they trample. The droplets of a soul Blend with debris Tracked by so many running feet. Now, the feet are gone. No more come to replace them. It is night and there is silence For an almost perfect moment. Then, the figure stumbles into the building.

Final Goodbye

I say my final Goodbye to you On the road tonight. It was sweet For awhile, But now We're slowly Drifting apart. We used to be Across the table, But now We're worlds away. This distance I dislike And so I say goodbye

Broken Record

I am living Just as I've been living, In a broken record. The same stuff Happens and happens and happens Over and over and over Again. It just keeps Skipping and skipping and skipping For hours and hours and hours, Days and days and days, Years and years and years. And alas, I see no way out. Every other life I see around me

Shell of Lies

I am the one Who grins and lies. The truth I keep Pent up inside. Outside, I am A piece of glass. Hard edges, Sharp edges; They're not perfect. But inside, I'm a cloud. Soft center, Smooth edges. The piece of glass Which I show the world Someday

Dry Bones

I speak of dry bones, Abandoned and forgotten. Dead empty plains Where nothing grows. I speak of dry bones And sunken cities. Blank checks and wilted flowers. People don't know What life is anymore Because all they know Is poverty. The way of being destitute Is how they were taught And so They are only A little more alive
